Vote Now: CNN asks you to make selections for its 2011 CNN Heroes program

Want to give back to the communities you live in? Do you want to teach kids about the importance of education and self-esteem? Or maybe you want to empower people in need?

Should all the people who earn the coveted title of CNN Hero get a $50,000 check? How about $200,000? Or a free education?

Today, CNN is taking a look at the success of past CNN Heroes by asking you to make your own nominations. So far, more than 150 people have expressed a desire to make the move to CNN Heroes. Do you agree? Click the link below to select a top 10 list of the people you think CNN should honor with their title.

This is the final day you can make your selections. The winners will be revealed next month.

Our nominees include an Iraq War veteran, a Detroit teenage mother of a three-year-old boy, a widow in a West Virginia town whose husband was a coal miner, a Sioux Indian Indian chief who fights for children with genetic diseases, and more.

So vote, and tell us which of your top 10 choices deserved to win. Then we’ll do the same and unveil the Top 10.

I’m so glad to see people are picking heroes from their own communities. It means more than you can ever know.
