A recent viral video of an employee from Dollar General — where you often see people working out of their backyards — has been going viral. The video shows a Dollar General employee working at his home, which is right next door to his neighbors.

This Dollar General employee recorded himself going from living in his own backyard, to his own car, to his own house.
And this dollar grocery worker is no different.
The Dollar General employee was doing this to share with his neighbors the story of how he’d changed his life.
Why’d he do it?
The dollar grocery worker wasn’t doing this to make a dollar. He really didn’t want to do it. In fact, Dollar General employee Matt Laskowski had recently been laid off from his job at the Dollar General warehouse in Pennsylvania.
But why would he do this?
Here’s what he had to say:
To make money, I started a YouTube channel. I got into it by posting my job as a dollar store worker. It seemed like a fun, new way to showcase my skills and share my story. I started making videos and my subscribers grew. Then I got laid off. I was in a job I loved, but I was no longer making as much money as I would have in a job I was enjoying and wasn’t having to work weekends.
I was making $15.25 an hour, which was more than I was making at Dollar General. I had some time to save it, so I started a YouTube channel to share my experience of the job, and my savings. I never expected it to go this far and I’m grateful. I am doing what I love
